Hi,
just wanted you all to know that I'm working on a (simple) plugin that will import MSN Messenger history files into Omea.
First thoughts on how this will behave:
- organize sessions as resource items
- monitor history folder and import new sessions
Note that, at least for the first release, there will be no further integration with Messenger itself, only import of the information available in the history files.
Comments, thoughts or bright ideas are welcome.

In fact, in one of the next minor updates of Omea, we plan to refactor our
Instant Messaging support intrastructure, extract the common framework from
the existing ICQ and Miranda plugins and make it easily extensible to other
IM client types.
However, this new integration support will not be available in the next several
months, so it's quite OK to build a plugin now that will not use that infrastructure.
If you need any help or have any questions, I'll be happy to answer.

Potentially you may want to organize Messenger history (conversations) processing
in a way the most compatible with our "patterns". If so we are ready to share
our code when necessary.
Please feel free to ask for help.
best wishes,

Hi Michael,
that is great! I knew you are working on a unified way of doing IM in Omea,
and would very much like to align my code with what you're planning.

Hello,
I would like to try and provide a similar plug-in for Gaim and if all goes
well then maybe Google Talk. Any information or code that you all could
provide would be appreciated. Thanks.

On the "me too!" tip:
I bet there are a lot of Trillian users as well. I bet though, you could
just point Omea at the transcripts directory...
Did I just have a conversation with myself? Hot.

I use Trillian and would be VERY happy to see this support.
Trillian stores (by preference) activity transcripts as text files (.LOG extension). The location is user-configurable via the preferences dialog.

Dear Jeff,
JL> I use Trillian and would be VERY happy to see this support.
A year ago or so, we started the Trillian activity but stopped at some time,
so this plugin has more "experimenting" status (as far as I remember). I
definitely would give the plugin's sources to someone who can finish it.

Hey Michael,
Before I move on with implementing my plugin it would be most appreciated
if you shared your patterns.
My goal is to be as compatible as possible with your openapi stuff. Hey,
perhaps you could provide some
early adopter edition of Omea/OpenAPI ?
Just let me know.
Best regards,
Peter Lillevold
